SIM Card - Inserting/Removing - Apple® iPhone® 4S

Instructions on Inserting/Removing your SIM can help with activation issues/errors, browser connection problems, and a blank/frozen screen. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Note Warnings:

  • Don't attempt to insert or remove the SIM card while the device is powered on. Doing so may harm the SIM card and/or the device.
  • This device uses a Micro SIM card. Micro SIM cards may not be used with devices that use incompatible SIM types. Similarly, altering (e.g. cutting) a Micro SIM or using a SIM adaptor to allow a SIM to be used with an incompatible device is not permitted. A compatible Micro SIM must always be used to ensure optimal device and network performance and to avoid service or feature impacts and disruption.

Insert the SIM card

Insert the SIM card

  1. Power the device off.
    Note Press and hold the Power button.
  2. Slide the Power switch right to power off the device.
    Note Allow several seconds for the device to power off.
  3. Insert the end of a SIM eject tool or a small thin paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray. Press firmly and push the tool straight in until the tray pops out.

  4. Insert the SIM card in the SIM card tray.

  5. Firmly push in the SIM card tray.

Remove the SIM card

  1. Power the device off.
    Note Press and hold the Power button.
