Transfer Pictures/Videos - Samsung Galaxy S® III

This helps when you want to transfer or move your picture/video files between your device and a computer/PC or memory card. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Only DRM free / unprotected video can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content do not play on this device.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
    1. If necessary, select and hold the status bar (located at the top) then drag to the bottom.
    2. Select Connected as a camera or Connected as a Media device.
    3. Select Media device (MTP).
      Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    4. To transfer photos using camera software select Camera (PTP).
      Note Selected when a check mark is present.

From a Computer to the Device

  1. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E) keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Explore.
  2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to:
    • SCH-I535 \ Internal Storage (Phone)
  3. Utilize the computer to copy video/picture files into the appropriate directory:
    • Movies
    • Pictures
  4. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

From the Device to a Computer

  1. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E) keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Explore.
  2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to:
    • SCH-I535 \ Internal Storage (Phone)
  3. Utilize the computer to copy video / picture files from the following folders into the desired folder(s) on the computer's hard drive:
    • DCIM\Camera
    • Download
    • Movies
    • Pictures
  4. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

To/From the Device to/from a Removable SD Card

  1. From a home screen, select Apps (located in the lower-right).
  2. Select My Files.
  3. Select sdcard0 or extSdCard.
    Note sdcard0 is internal device storage and extSdCard is the removable SD card.
  4. Select the picture, video, file or folder location (e.i. Camera, dcim, pictures, videos, etc.).
  5. Select and hold the picture, video, file, or folder.
  6. Select Move.
  7. Select extSdCard or sdcard0.
    Note sdcard0 is internal device storage and extSdCard is the removable SD card.
  8. Select the folder location.
  9. Select Move here.
