Device Lock - Samsung Galaxy Tab® 2 (7.0)

Note If using Microsoft Exchange / Corporate sync, pattern lock may be unavailable.

Setup screen lock
Lock the device
Unlock the device

 

Setup screen lock

  1. From a home screen, select Apps Apps icon.
    Note Located at the bottom when viewed in portrait or at the right in landscape.
  2. From the Apps tab, select Settings.
  3. Select Lock screen.
    Note If secured, enter / draw the current PIN, password or pattern.
  4. Select one of the following.
    Swipe
    Face Unlock
    Pattern
    PIN
    Password
    None

 

Face Unlock

  1. Select Set it up.
  2. Select Continue.
    Note For best results, find an indoor location with good lighting.
  3. Align the facial outline to capture face.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Select one of the following backup locks.
    Pattern
    PIN

 

Pattern (Backup to Face Unlock)

  1. Draw an unlock pattern then select Continue.
    Note Pattern must contain at least 4 dots.
  2. Draw the pattern again then select Confirm.
  3. Select OK

PIN (Backup to Face Unlock)

  1. Enter the preferred PIN then select Continue.
    Note PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
  2. Enter the PIN again to confirm then select OK.
  3. Select OK

Pattern

  1. Draw an unlock pattern then select Continue.
    Note Pattern must contain at least 4 dots.
  2. Draw the pattern again then select Confirm.
  3. Enter the preferred backup PIN then select Continue.
    Note PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
  4. Enter the PIN again then select OK.

  1. Enter the preferred PIN then select Continue.
    Note PIN must contain at least 4 numbers.
  2. Enter the PIN again to confirm then select OK.

Password

  1. Enter the preferred password then select Continue.
    Note Password must contain at least 4 characters.
  2. Enter the password again to confirm then select OK.

Lock the device

Note Security lock is engaged once the device has been idle for a specified length of time (e.g. 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes, etc.) then the display is turned off.

Note To adjust the Security lock timer, refer to Password Options for assistance.

  1. Press the Power button to turn the display off.
    Note If Screen timeout is enabled, the display will automatically turn off once the device has been idle for a specified length of time (e.g., 15 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc.). To adjust the Screen timeout, refer to Display Settings for assistance.

Unlocking the device

Unlock when Screen lock is set
Unlock when Screen lock is not set

 

Unlocking the device when Screen lock is set

  1. If the display is dark press the Power key.
    Power key
  2. When presented, perform one of the following:
    • Look at the device.
    • Enter the Password then select Enter.
    • Enter the PIN then select OK.
    • Draw the pattern.

Note If the unlock password, pattern or PIN are forgotten and the Google Account credentials are not available, a hard reset will need to be performed.

Unlocking the device when Screen lock is not set

  1. If the display is dark press the Power key.
