SIM Card - Inserting/Removing - Nokia Lumia 822

Instructions on inserting/removing your SIM can help with activation issues/errors, browser connection problems, and a blank/frozen screen. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Notes:

  • Do not attempt to insert or remove the SIM card with device powered on. Doing so can harm the SIM card and/or the device.
  • Any issue regarding lost or damaged SIM card trays should be referred to Nokia.

Insert the SIM Card

  1. Ensure that the device is powered off.
    Note If applicable, press and hold the Power button then drag the window to the bottom of the display to power off. Once the 'goodbye' message appears, allow up to 15 seconds for the device to completely power off.

  2. Remove the battery cover.
    Note Starting from the bottom of the device, carefully detach the cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Remove the SIM card tray (next to the camera lens).
  5. With the gold contacts facing down and the notch located in the lower-right, insert the SIM card into the tray.
  6. Insert the tray into the SIM card slot.
    Note Press in on the tray until it slides into place.
  7. Insert the battery.
    Note Ensure that the connectors on the battery align with the connectors on the device.
  8. Replace the battery cover.
    Note Starting from the top of the device, press in on the cover to lock it into place.

  5. Insert the battery.
    Note Ensure that the connectors on the battery align with the connectors on the device.
  6. Replace the battery cover.
    Note Starting from the top of the device, press in on the cover to lock it into place.
