Transfer Music Files - Samsung Galaxy S® III mini

This helps you move or transfer music between your device and a computer/PC or memory card. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

From the Computer to the Device

Caution Only DRM free or unprotected video can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content won't play on this device.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E)  keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Open Windows Explore.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: SM-G730V > Phone.
    Note If a microSD card is present, files can be transfered to that location by navigating: SM-G730V > Card.
  4. Use the computer to copy music and other audio files into the folder.
    Note For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and copy into the same folder as the music files.
  5. To further organize files, create a subfolder in the newly created music folder and copy desired music files into it.
  6. Disconnect the USB cable.

From the Device to a Computer

caution Only DRM free or unprotected music can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content (e.g. songs downloaded via iTunes, Rhapsody subscription, etc.) won't play on this device.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E)  keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Open Windows Explore.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: SM-G730V > Phone > Music.
    Note If a microSD card is present, music files can be transfered to that location by navigating: SM-G730V > Card.
  4. Use the computer to copy music files into the preferred folder.
  5. Disconnect the USB cable.

From the Device to an SD Card

  1. From a home screen, navigate: Apps > Tools > My Files.
  2. Tap All.
  3. Tap Device storage.
  4. Tap Music.
  5. Tap (check) the desired music file(s).
  6. Tap Menu Menu icon.
  7. Tap Move.
  8. Tap SD memory card.
  9. Navigate to the preferred folder then select Move here (located in the upper right).
