Email Account Settings (Personal POP/IMAP) - Apple® iPhone® 5S

This information is helpful if you need assistance with your personal POP/IMAP email settings. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Server addresses, security information and additional support can be obtained from the email provider.

  1. From the home screen, select Settings.

  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  3. From the Accounts section, select an email account.

  4. Drag the switches left or right to enable/disable sync options.
    Note Enabled when the switch is in the green position.

  5. Select the Account.

  6. Verify the account information.
    • Name
    • Address
    • Password
    • Description

  7. If available, verify the incoming mail server information.
    • Host Name (incoming server)
    • Username
    • Password
  8. Select SMTP.

  9. Select the Primary SMTP Server.

  10. Select the Server switch to enable/disable the SMTP server.
    Note Enabled when the switch is in the green position.

  11. Verify the outgoing mail server settings:
    • Host Name
    • User Name
    • Password
    • Use SSL
      Note Enabled when the switch is in the green position.
    • Authentication
    • Server Port

  12. Select Advanced.

  13. Verify the Mailbox behaviors.
    • Drafts Mailbox
    • Delete Mailbox
    • Archive Mailbox

  14. Verify the discarded messages location is selected.
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Deleted Mailbox
    • Archive Mailbox

  15. Verify the Incoming settings.
    • Use SSL
    • Path Prefix
    • Server Port

  16. Verify the S/MIME settings then select Account (located in the upper-right).
    • S/MIME
      Note Enabled when the switch is in the green position.
    • Sign
    • Encrypt

  17. Select Done (located in the upper-right).
