Email Account Settings (Personal POP/IMAP) - Apple® iPhone® 5S

This information is helpful if you need assistance with your personal POP/IMAP email settings. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Note Notes:

  • Server addresses, security information and additional support can be obtained from the email provider.
  • To determine the device software version, refer to View Software Version.

Device Software Version iOS 7

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. From the Accounts section, select an email account.
  4. Drag the switches left or right to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
    Note Sync options are turned on if the switch is in the green position.
    • Mail
    • Contacts
    • Calendars
    • Notes
  5. Tap the Account.
  6. Verify the account information.
    • Name
    • Address
    • Password
    • Description
  7. If available, verify the incoming mail server information.
    • Host Name (incoming server)
    • Username
    • Password
  8. Tap SMTP.
  9. Tap the Primary SMTP Server.
  10. Tap the Server switch to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off the SMTP server.
    Note The SMTP server is turned on if the switch is in the green position.
  11. Verify the outgoing mail server settings.
    • Host Name
    • User Name
    • Password
    • Use SSL
      Note Turned on when the switch is in the green position Switch On.
    • Authentication
    • Server Port
  12. Tap Account (located in the upper-left).
  13. Verify the Mailbox behaviors.
    • Drafts Mailbox
    • Delete Mailbox
    • Archive Mailbox
  14. Verify the discarded messages location is selected.
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Deleted Mailbox
    • Archive Mailbox
  15. Verify the Incoming settings.
    • Use SSL
    • Path Prefix
    • Server Port
  16. Verify the S/MIME settings then tap Account (located in the upper-left).
    • S/MIME
      Note Turned on when the switch is in the green position Switch On.
    • Sign
    • Encrypt
  17. Tap Done (located in the upper-left).

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. From the Accounts section, select an email account.

  5. Tap the Account.

    • Description
  7. If available, verify the incoming mail server information.

    • Username
    • Password
  8. Tap SMTP.
