Transfer Pictures/Videos - Moto G™

This helps when you want to transfer or move your picture/video files between your device and a computer/PC. Our Troubleshooting Assistant can help you with other device issues if you aren't currently using the tool.

Only DRM free or unprotected video can be transferred via this method. DRM protected content not play on this device.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files.

Transfer from a Computer to the Device

  1. Connect the device to a computer via USB cable.
    1. If necessary, tap and hold the status bar (located at the top) then drag to the bottom.
    2. Tap Connected as a camera.
    3. Tap Media device (MTP).
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
  2. Launch Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E ( windows key logo+E) keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Explore.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: XT1028 > Internal Storage.
    note XT1028 is listed under the 'Portable Devices' section.
  4. Utilize the computer to copy video or picture files into the appropriate directory:
    • Movies
    • Pictures
  5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.

Transfer from the Device to a Computer

  1. Connect the device to a computer via USB cable.
    1. If necessary, tap and hold the status bar (located at the top) then drag to the bottom.
    2. Tap Connected as a camera.
    3. Tap Media device (MTP).

  2. Launch Windows Explorer.

  3. Using Windows Explorer, navigate: XT1028 > Internal Storage.
    note XT1028 is listed under the 'Portable Devices' section.
  4. Utilize the computer to copy video or picture files from the following folders into the desired folder(s) on the computer's hard drive:
    • DCIM\Camera
    • Download
    • Movies
    • Pictures
  5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
