  1. What is Verizon Selects?

    Verizon Selects is a program you can choose to participate in that uses information about you, including your location, web browsing and app usage data to determine whether you fit into an audience Verizon or another company is trying to reach. If you choose to participate in Verizon Selects, you may receive marketing messages, offers and other content that interests you more than what you receive today. We won’t share information that identifies you personally with any non-Verizon companies.

  2. How will I receive Verizon Selects marketing messages?

    Verizon Selects will use the information we describe above, including your location, web browsing and app usage data, to provide relevant marketing messages, offers and other content through a variety of marketing media, such as email, text, Internet and mobile advertising.

  3. What types of accounts and devices may participate in Verizon Selects?

    Consumer and small business customers may participate in Verizon Selects on any device associated with their lines, such as:

    • Basic phones
    • Smartphones
    • Tablets
    • Mobile hotspots
    • Netbooks
    • USB modems or other devices

    Corporate or government accounts aren’t eligible to participate. Certain other lines may also be ineligible (e.g., lines that an Account Owner has requested be blocked from participation).

  5. How many messages will I receive if I participate in Verizon Selects?

    Verizon Selects will use your information to provide marketing messages, offers and content through a variety of marketing media, such as email, text, Internet and mobile advertising. While the number of communications received will vary by individual, we’ll monitor the quantity and quality of communications sent to you. You can also let us know that you would not like us to deliver marketing messages in certain ways (e.g., email or text), at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center in My Verizon.

  6. Will I be charged for the marketing text messages I receive from Verizon Selects?

    No, you won’t be charged for texts associated with your participation in Verizon Selects, unless we notify you in advance.

  1. If I participate in Verizon Selects, will you share data that identifies me with non-Verizon companies?

    No, we won’t share data that identifies you personally.

  2. When enrolled in Verizon Selects, what kind of data is used to determine whether I fit into a group of people Verizon or another company is trying to reach?

    Verizon Wireless will use the following information:

    Mobile usage information

    • Apps and device features
    • Data and calling features
    • Websites visited including search terms
    • Device location

    Other types of information
    • Verizon service usage such as FiOS services, equipment and device types

    • Demographic, interest and behavior characteristics such as gender, age range, hobbies and interests, shopping preferences and responses to marketing from Verizon and other companies

    • Information about the quantity, type, destination, location and amount of use of your Verizon voice services and related billing information (also known as Customer Proprietary Network Information or “CPNI”)

  3. Will Verizon Selects use information obtained from accessing or reading my emails or texts, or from collecting information from online accounts where I perform secure transactions, like my online bank account?

    No, Verizon Selects won’t use information obtained from your emails or texts, or information from secure online transactions.

  4. If I provided my consent to participate in Verizon Selects, and then I turn off the location-based services settings on my mobile device, will my location information still be collected and used for Verizon Selects?

    Yes, the location information used for Verizon Selects is not related to the location settings on your device. If you do not want us to use your location information, you can withdraw your consent at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center

    You can also instruct Verizon Selects to delete past data it has collected about your web browsing and location on the Verizon Selects Preferences Center.

  5. If I provide my consent, how long will you keep and use my data for Verizon Selects?

    You will remain a participant in Verizon Selects until you withdraw your consent. Information Verizon Selects collects while you are a participant may be kept for up to three years. You can stop participating or instruct Verizon Selects to delete past data it has collected about your web browsing and location at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center.

  1. What kind of choices do I have as to whether my information is used for Verizon Selects?

    We won’t use your information for Verizon Selects unless you provide your consent. Once you have decided to participate in Verizon Selects, you can make choices about the use of your information at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center.

    From the Preferences Center, you can:

    • Let us know that you would not like to receive marketing messages in certain ways (e.g., email or text)

    • Instruct Verizon Selects to delete past data it has collected about your web browsing and locations

    • Disable other lines on your account from participating*

    • Stop participating in Verizon Selects

    Note: If you are the Account Owner, you can also end the participation of other lines on your account. When you end participation, the Verizon Selects data associated with your participation will be deleted.

    *Only the Account Owner can set Verizon Selects to disable lines from participating on the account.

  2. If I decide to participate in Verizon Selects now, can I change my mind later?

    Yes, you can do so at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center.

  3. I’m already a participant in Verizon Selects and now want to change some of my preferences. Where can I do that?

    Once you are a participant in Verizon Selects, you can choose how your information is used by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center. For example, you can instruct Verizon Selects to delete past data it has collected about your web browsing and location, or you can let us know that you do not want to receive marketing messages in certain ways, such as email or text.

  4. Can I prevent other people on my account from participating in Verizon Selects?

    Yes, if you are the Account Owner, you can control which Account Members participate by visiting the Verizon Selects Preferences Center in My Verizon.

  5. Can I delete the web browsing and location data Verizon Selects has obtained about me?

    Yes, you may instruct Verizon Selects to delete past data it has collected about your web browsing and location at any time by visiting the Verizon Selects Preference Center in My Verizon.

  6. How will I know that my Verizon Selects choices have been processed?

    When you make a choice or modify an existing one from the Verizon Selects Preferences Center, a confirmation message will display after your choices are saved. You can also view your current status.

  7. I have recently added my phone number to the Federal Do Not Call registry, or have told Verizon that I don’t want to receive certain kinds of marketing, such as mail, emails or phone calls from Verizon’s family of companies. How do these Do Not Solicit choices affect my participation in Verizon Selects?

    Your decision to participate in Verizon Selects is independent of any other choices you’ve made previously. To let us know that you do not wish to receive certain kinds of Verizon Selects marketing messages (e.g., direct mail, email or text), you can visit the Verizon Selects Preferences Center.
