  1. Will iPhone® 5 work on Verizon Wireless' 3G or 4G LTE network?

    iPhone 5 will run on our 4G LTE network – America’s fastest 4G network. In areas where 4G LTE is not available, it will run on our 3G network – the largest and most reliable 3G network in the country.

  2. With my iPhone® 5, am I able to make a call and browse the web at the same time?

    You can make a voice call on the Verizon Wireless network and simultaneously browse the Internet over a public or home Wi-Fi connection.

    The iPhone 5, as designed by Apple®, does not support simultaneous voice and data on the Verizon Wireless cellular network.

  1. Can I transfer my mobile number from my current wireless service provider to Verizon Wireless?

    In most cases, you can bring your existing number from your current wireless or landline service provider to Verizon Wireless. To check if you're eligible to transfer, or to check the status of a current port request, go to the Keep Your Number page.

    You may be responsible to your old service provider for any contractual requirements and applicable charges, including an early termination fee, on your old account.

  2. Should I cancel my existing service before activating service with Verizon Wireless?

    No, your number must remain active. Canceling your service prior to setting up an account with Verizon Wireless will prevent you from keeping your number.

  3. How long will it take to move my number to Verizon Wireless?

    Moving your current mobile number to a new carrier generally should take no more than three hours to one day, but could take longer. Landline to wireless transfers generally should take no more than four days, but could take longer.

    Processing time may vary depending on the complexity of the port, existing volumes between carriers and your old service provider.

  4. How will I know when the transfer of my phone number to Verizon Wireless is complete?

  5. Do I need to sign up for a 2-year agreement when purchasing iPhone® 5?

    If you are purchasing iPhone 5 at the 2-year promotional price, a new agreement is required. However, you will also have the option to purchase the iPhone 5 at full retail price, which will not require you to sign a long-term agreement.

    Note: Activation on a month-to-month agreement is required when purchasing iPhone 5 at full retail price.

  6. If I’m an existing Verizon Wireless customer and not currently eligible for an upgrade, will Verizon Wireless offer any special programs to allow upgrades to iPhone® 5 at a reduced price?

    If you are not eligible to upgrade, you can’t upgrade at promotional pricing, but you can pay full retail price for a new iPhone 5. In addition, you may be able to take advantage of the Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program, which allows you to get value for your used device.

    Using the Device Recycling Program website, you can determine in a few simple steps whether your used device has value, and if so, you can send the device in to receive a Verizon Wireless gift card.

  1. Are there minimum service and data pricing requirements when purchasing iPhone® 5?

    If you are a new Verizon Wireless customer or an existing customer without a data plan, you will need to subscribe to The MORE Everything Plan that will give you Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text and a single pool of Sharable Data for up to 10 devices on your account.

    If you are an existing customer with a Nationwide Plan and data package, you can remain on your current plan.

  2. Can I upgrade from another Smartphone to iPhone® 5 and keep my existing service and data pricing?

    If you have an Unlimited Data package and purchase iPhone 5 at a discounted price, you’ll need to choose from a calling plan with a new data package or The MORE Everything Plan. You also have the option to keep your Unlimited Data package and pay full retail price for iPhone 5.

    If you don’t have an Unlimited Data package, when you upgrade to iPhone 5 at discounted pricing, you can keep your existing plan or select from one of the current plans available.

  1. I currently have an iPhone® 5 with AT&T. Can I keep my existing version of iPhone 5?

    No, you will need an iPhone 5 that works on the Verizon Wireless network. You may consider taking advantage of the Verizon Wireless Trade-In Program, which allows you to get value for your used device.

    Using the Trade-In Program website, you can determine in a few simple steps whether your used device has value and, if so, send the device in to receive a Verizon Wireless gift card.

  5. If I’ve already ordered an iPhone® 5, how do I check the status of my order?

    There are several ways to check your order status:

    • Visit verizonwireless.com/orderstatus.

    • Call (800) 922-0204 and select the Order Status option. You will be asked to enter your Order Reference Number listed in the confirmation email.

    • If you’re a business customer who orders through My Business Account or Verizon Enterprise Center, you may check your order status through those online services.

  1. Will my existing voice mail transfer over when I activate iPhone® 5?

    No, all existing voice mail messages will be lost when transferring over to iPhone 5. Refer to the Saving Your Existing Voice Mail Before Activating iPhone page for more details and for step-by-step instructions on how to save your existing voice mail.

    Note: If you are an existing Verizon Wireless iPhone customer switching to another Verizon Wireless iPhone, your voice mails will not be deleted.

  1. Do I need iTunes® to set up iPhone® 5?

    No, you do not need iTunes to set up iPhone 5 for the first time. iPhone 5 can be set up using a PC-free method over a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

    iTunes is available as a free download on the iTunes website

    You can search for, browse, review, purchase and download iOS apps from the App Store directly from iPhone 5. Apps that you download and install from the App Store on iPhone 5 are backed up to your iTunes® library the next time you sync iPhone 5 with your computer.

  5. Will any Verizon Wireless apps be available on iPhone® 5?

    Verizon Wireless apps are not pre-loaded. The following apps are currently available in the App Store℠ for iPhone 5:

    • Backup Assistant℠
    • My Verizon Mobile
    • VZ Navigator®
    • NFL® Mobile

    We are also working on other apps for the App Store.

    If you're a current Backup Assistant user, you can use search for and download Backup Assistant to transfer contacts to iPhone 5. Use our online Transfer Contacts tool for step-by-step instructions.

  6. What happens to any existing apps that I have purchased on my Verizon Wireless device after I switch to iPhone® 5?

    Although many of the same apps may be available on iPhone 5, any non-iOS apps already purchased on your existing device will not be transferred to your iPhone 5.

  9. Can I use iPhone® 5 while traveling abroad?

    You can use iPhone 5 for voice and text in more than 220 countries, with data service in more than 205 countries and 165 of those countries, at 3G speeds. If you’re an existing Verizon Wireless customer, you may add global service using My Verizon or My Verizon Mobile under the Change Features section. All customers may visit a Verizon Wireless store or call Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 to add global service. Eligibility requirements may apply.

  10. Can I use Wi-Fi on iPhone® 5 while traveling abroad to obtain data connection?

    Yes, you may use Wi-Fi for your data connection to access email, web browsers, FaceTime® and more. Data transmitted over a Wi-Fi connection does not count against your data allowance.
