Call Forwarding FAQs
  1. What is Call Forwarding?

With Call Forwarding, you can forward your mobile calls to another phone number, like your home or office number. This is helpful if you accidentally forget your mobile phone or you want to make sure you don’t miss an important call.

You can set up Call Forwarding to automatically forward all calls to another number, without making your mobile phone ring first. You can also have the call first go to your mobile phone, and if you don’t answer or the phone is in use, the call will be forwarded to another number.

Call Forwarding is included with all plans. It’s is also known as "Immediate Call Forwarding” and “No Answer / Busy Transfer.”

Watch our How to Set Up Call Forwarding video for more information.

  2. How much does Call Forwarding cost?

You’ll be billed for all forwarded calls according to your voice plan, just like you would if you answered the call from your mobile phone, even if the calls are forwarded to a landline.

There’s no monthly fee for Call Forwarding on most plans, however, a fee may apply on some retired plans. Long distance isn’t charged on forwarded calls if you have a plan that includes long distance.

  10. I activated Call Forwarding on my phone. Why are people getting a busy tone when calling me?

If callers are receiving a busy tone, you may want to check that the call was forwarded to the correct phone number. Sometimes additional buttons are accidentally pressed while setting up Call Forwarding. If that happens, the number can’t be recognized.

Set up Call Forwarding again from your mobile phone by calling *72 and the forwarding phone number including the area code (e.g., *72-555-555-5555).

You can also edit the number you’re forwarding calls to online from the Call Forwarding page in My Verizon.

Note: Calls can’t be forwarded to international numbers.
