International Messaging FAQs
  1. What is International Messaging?

International Messaging is a service that lets you send text and multimedia messages to select international locations from your mobile device. While you’re in the US in the Verizon Wireless coverage area, you can send text messages to over 200 countries and multimedia messages to over 100 countries around the world.

For more information, including participating countries, pricing information and dialing instructions, visit our International Messaging page.

  2. How do I send international text and multimedia messages?

Sending an international message is just like sending a message to someone in the US. However, you may need to enter a few extra numbers before the mobile number of the person you’re messaging, depending on which country the number’s associated with.

If you aren’t sure what the dialing pattern is for a specific country you’re trying to message, go to our International Messaging page and select the country from the dropdown. The proper dialing patterns and rates for calls and messages will appear for that country.

  3. How much does it cost to send international text and multimedia messages?

If you have The MORE Everything Plan, unlimited international text and multimedia messaging is included for no additional cost.

For all other plans, you can find pricing, dialing and coverage information for a specific country on our International Messaging page.

  4. Does it cost more to receive an international message than a message from someone in the US?

No, all messages that you receive while in the US are billed the same way, whether they’re from an international number or a domestic number.

    • If you have The MORE Everything Plan, unlimited international text messaging is included for no additional cost.
    • If you have a messaging allowance, international messages will be deducted from that allowance, just like a domestic message.
    • If you don’t have a messaging allowance, the standard incoming text rate outlined in your plan will apply to both domestic and International incoming messages. If you aren’t sure what your plan’s messaging rates are, you can find them in My Verizon:
