How to Use Guide: Verizon Tones

With Verizon Tones (formerly V CAST Tones) you can preview and buy from our extensive catalog of over 100,000 ringtones, Ringback Tones and Ringback Tones Jukeboxes. You can download, manage, preview and play the latest Tones right from your mobile phone. Verizon Tones are available through the Verizon Tones app on your phone, in our online Media Center or through text message.

A Ringback Tone is what callers hear when they dial your number. This is different than a ringtone, which is what you hear when your phone rings.

How to Access Verizon Tones

You can access Verizon Tones in a variety of ways:


On Your Phone

Android Smartphones

In most cases, Verizon Tones is preloaded on the phone and found in the Apps menu of the phone. If not found in the Apps menu, it can be downloaded from Google Play™ Store. To download Verizon Tones on to your Android™ phone:

  1. Tap the Play Store icon.

  2. Tap the Verizon tab.

  3. Tap the Verizon Tones app.

  4. Tap Install.

  5. Once installed, launch the app.

Some Android Smartphones aren’t supported. Data rates may apply for app download & use.

iPhone®

  1. Open the browser on your iPhone.

  2. Navigate to http://s.vzw.com/home.

Windows Phone

  1. Tap the Store icon.

  2. Search for Verizon Tones.

  3. Tap the Verizon Tones app.

  4. Tap Install.

  5. Once installed, launch the app.

BlackBerry Smartphones

In most cases, Verizon Tones is preloaded on the phone and found on the Home screen. The app may also be located in the App Center folder of the phone. If the app isn’t preloaded:

  1. Go to BlackBerry App World™.

  2. Download the Verizon Tones or V CAST Tones app.

  3. Once installed, launch the app.

Basic Phones

  1. On your phone, select Media Center.

  2. Select Music & Tones.

  3. Select Get New Ringtones.

  4. Select the Verizon Tones or V CAST Tones app.

Online

Navigate to the Media Store on your computer’s browser.

Text Message

    1. From your device, text LIST to 728 on your messaging client to receive a top 10 list of content.

    2. Text the three-digit short code matching the content you wish to purchase.

How to Browse Content

There are multiple ways to find content using the Verizon Tones app. You can search for specific titles or artist content, or check out the latest in the What’s New or What’s Hot categories.

Browse Using Search

  1. Open the app and select Search.

  2. Search by Artist or Title.

  3. Using your keypad, enter the artist name or title of what you’re looking for.

Browse by What's Hot or What's New

Want to see the latest and greatest? Look through the "What's New" category to see the newly released and recently added ringtones and Ringback Tones. Check out the "What’s Hot" category for the best-selling ringtones and Ringback Tones.

How to Preview and Purchase Content

    1. Select the content you wish to preview.

    2. Select Preview or Play to hear the preview.

    3. Select Pause or Stop to stop the play back.

    4. Selecting Clear or the back key will return you to the previous menu.

    5. Select Buy or Purchase. You have the option to purchase the ringtone or Ringback Tone if available. You can also choose to purchase both the ringtone and Ringback Tone as a bundle at a discounted price.

    6. Select Confirm or Purchase.

    7. The Purchase Success screen will display. If using an Android phone, tap Download Now or Download Later. If using a different type of phone, the ringtone or Ringback Tone will already have been downloaded and saved to your phone.

How to Set Ringtones

On most phones, Verizon Tones allows you to set the purchased ringtone as your default ringtone from within the app. In some cases, you’ll have to exit the app and set the ringtone from your phone’s Settings menu.

You can set a ringtone for a specific person from your Contacts by opening that contact. For more information, refer to your User Guide.

Verizon Tones is available on select devices. App availability and location on the device varies among the different device types.

How to Set Ringback Tones

By setting a Ringback Tone you can customize what callers will hear when they dial your phone number. Here are a few things you can do with Ringback Tones:

  • Purchase up to 100 Ringback Tones

  • Set Ringback Tones for up to 25 different callers

  • Schedule a Ringback Tone for a specific time of day or day of the week

  • Create up to five Jukeboxes with up to 15 Ringback Tones in each one

  • Create up to five groups with up to 10 phone numbers in each group.* What’s a Ringback Tone group?


*Each group can be assigned a specific Ringback Tone or Jukebox. Groups don’t count toward the 25 individual caller IDs you can set.

How to Set a Default Ringback Tone

On your Phone

  1. Open the Verizon Tones app.

  2. Select Manage Ringback Tones.

  3. Select My Ringback Tones.

  4. Select the Ringback Tone you want to set as your default.

  5. Select Set as Default.

Online

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Your default will show up on the right side of the screen. Drag and drop a Ringback Tone or Jukebox to My Default.

How to Set a Ringback Tone for a Specific Caller

You can set a Ringback Tone for a caller with the Verizon Tones app or online.

On your Phone

  1. Open the Verizon Tones app.

  2. Select Manage Ringback Tones.

  3. Select one of your Ringback Tones.

  4. Select Assign to Contact.

  5. Select the desired contact from your address book.

  6. Select OK.

Online

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Click the Contacts tab on right side of the screen.

  4. Click New Contact.

  5. Type in a contact name and phone number.

  6. Your default Ringback Tone will automatically be set for the new contact. To change the Ringback Tone, drag and drop a Ringback Tone or Jukebox to the contact.

How to Create a Ringback Tones Jukebox

Jukebox is a container of Ringback Tones that rotates Ringback Tones played each time you receive a call. There is no additional charge for the use of Jukebox.

You can create up to five Jukeboxes per mobile number. Your five Jukeboxes can be used independently of the 25 callers you set a Ringback Tone for, unless you set a Jukebox for a specific caller. 

To create a Jukebox you must first have Ringback Tones set up. If you haven’t already set up a Ringback Tone, refer to the previous section of this page.

There are two ways to create a Jukebox: on your phone with the Verizon Tones app or online

On Your Phone

  1. Open the Verizon Tones mobile app.

  2. Tap Manage Ringback Tones.

  3. Tap My Jukeboxes.

  4. Tap Create New Jukebox.

  5. Assign up to 15 Ringback Tones to the Jukebox.

  6. Select the My Settings tab to assign the Jukebox to your default Ringback Tone, a specific caller.

Online

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Click Create New Jukebox.

  4. Enter a name for the new Jukebox. 

  5. Drag and drop up to 15 Ringback Tones to the new Jukebox.

  6. Click OK.

How to Set a Jukebox for a Specific Caller

You can set a Jukebox for a caller on your phone with the Verizon Tones app or online.

On Your Phone

  1. Open the Verizon Tones app.

  2. Select Manage Ringback Tones.

  3. Select one of your Jukeboxes.

  4. Select Assign to Contact.

  5. Select the desired contact from your address book.

  6. Select OK.

Online

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Enter the contact’s name and number.

  4. Drag the desired Jukebox in to the box next to the contact.

How to Create a Ringback Tones Group

You can create a group online.
  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Click New Group.

  4. Enter a name for the group.

  5. After you click away from the group, your group will be saved and the default Ringback Tone will be set for it.

  6. Drag and drop your desired contacts in to the group. As you do this, it will indicate how many contacts are in the group. Once you add a contact to a group, you can’t set a specific Ringback Tone for an individual in a group.

How to Modify a Ringback Tones Group

In the online Media Store you can:

  • Move a contact from one group to another
  • Delete a group
  • Change the name of a group

To move a contact from one group to another:

  1. Click the arrow to expand the group.

  2. Drag and drop the contact you wish to move in to a different group.

To delete a group:

  1. Click the group you want to delete.

  2. Click the Trash Can icon in the lower right-hand corner.

  3. Click Delete.

To change the name of a group:

  1. Double-click on the name of the group name you want to change.

  2. Type in the new name you want to use.

  3. Hit the Enter button on your keyboard.

How to Set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a Group

You can set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a group online.

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Click the Contacts tab on the right side.

  4. Drag the desired Ringback Tone or Jukebox to the box next to the group’s name.

How to Set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a Day of the Week

You can set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a day of the week online.

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. Drag and drop a Ringback Tone or Jukebox to the desired day of the week under Assign by Day of the Week in the panel on the right side of the screen.

How to Set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a Time of Day

You can set a Ringback Tone or Jukebox for a time of day online.

  1. Go to the Media Store.

  2. Hover over the Manage tab on the Ringback Tones website, and then click My Ringback Tones.

    Note: You must be signed in to the Media Store to access your Ringback Tones.

  3. In the default settings panel on the right side, scroll to Assign by Time of Day.

  4. Click the checkbox next to Play a Ringback Tone for a Specific Time Everyday.

  5. Select your desired start and end time to play a specific Ringback Tone or Jukebox.

  6. Drag and drop a Ringback Tone or Jukebox in to the Time of Day section.
