Mobile Web FAQs

  1. Can I use my desktop to access Mobile Web?
Yes, you can access Mobile Web from your desktop at

  2. How do I log in to Mobile Web for the 1st time?
From your desktop, go to and click "Join Now!" You will be sent to a web page at which you must obtain a .NET Passport account. When obtaining a Passport account, you will also receive your Hotmail email address. Registration can also be done from your PDA, however, not from your phone at this time.

  3. Do I need to login to use Mobile Web?
Yes, if you wish to customize your experience and/or sign up for alerts. To customize from the desktop, you will be required to log into Passport. From the phone, you will only need to login to access personalized information (ex: bookmarks, alerts and emails).

  4. Can I save Bookmarks with Mobile Web?
Yes, you can bookmark your favorite wireless websites, accessible from your phone or desktop. Folders can be created for more organized storage.

  5. How do I check my Mobile Web minutes of use?
Under "Customer Support" go to "My Bill" and follow the prompts. (Not available in all markets.)

General Information
  1. How am I billed for Mobile Web?
There is a monthly access fee of $5.00 if you are subscribed to a non-nationwide calling plan. On nationwide plans there is no monthly access fee. On non-nationwide plans Mobile Web deducts minutes from your voice rate-plan minutes (overage rates may apply) during use. On nationwide plans data transport charges of $1.99/MB are billed. Have the monthly subscription fee waived and applicable data/airtime charges when subscribing to the V Cast VPak.

  2. How can I view/update my Mobile Web personal settings?
To access your personalized Mobile Web information on your wireless device, you must log in with your Passport username by selecting "Email/Messaging" or "Search/Bookmarks." From the desktop, you may want to update the wireless device model that you selected during the signup process.

  3. If I change my phone number, can I access Mobile Web?
Yes, just update the phone number located on your desktop at (from the Registered home page, click "My Device," then click the "Edit" link under "My Device") so you can still receive your alerts.

  4. If I am roaming throughout the country, can I still use Mobile Web and receive alerts?
Yes, as long as you are in a Verizon Wireless digital area, you will be able to use Mobile Web and receive alerts while roaming.

  5. How do I troubleshoot Mobile Web error messages?
You can use soft key to view "Details" and report to Customer Service (*611) toll free (select the "Internet Solutions" option).

  6. Am I always connected to the Internet with Mobile Web?
You are connected upon making a selection. After 30 seconds of inactivity, your wireless device "times out" (meaning you will no longer receive information and will no longer be billed for airtime). At that time, you can read the saved (cached) content without being billed for airtime minutes. You can reconnect to the Internet by making another selection (you can tell when the browser is re-initiating because you will see "sending/receiving" displayed on your phone).

  7. Can I receive a call while in a Mobile Web browser session?
If you are in the process of sending/receiving data, inbound calls will go to voice mail. If you have timed out of your session, then you can receive your call.

My Alerts
  1. What are Mobile Web Alerts and is there a charge?
An Alert is an event notification you requested from the "Alerts" link from your personal page located on the desktop. Your Mobile Web access fee may include a bundle of Alerts, and for each alert over the bundled amount available to you (according to your price plan) there is a fee for overage at $0.15 per inbound message. You may also receive alerts from other providers that you requested, billed at the same rate of $0.15 per alert.

  2. When roaming, can I receive Mobile Web Alerts?
Yes, in most cities with Verizon Wireless digital service.

  3. How do I know if I've received a Mobile Web Alert?
A messaging icon displays when you receive an Alert. Go into your wireless device's message "inbox" to retrieve the Alert.

  4. How many Mobile Web Alerts can I receive?
You are not limited on the number you can receive, however your wireless device can only store a certain number of alerts. See your wireless device's user guide.
