Ringtones and Ringback Tones

RINGTONES: When your phone rings, you can hear a song clip from your favorite artist, a holiday tune, a beloved classic and more. Set different ringtones for each contact, so you know who s calling without looking at your phone.
RINGBACK TONES: When friends call you, they'll hear actual song clips until you pick up the call or they're sent to Voice Mail. You can personalize your Ringback Tones so each person or whole groups hear a specific song you set for them.

Verizon Tones: Ringtones and Ringback Tones FAQs

[FAQs]

General Information
  1. What's the difference between a ringtone and a Ringback Tone?

Ringtones are downloaded to and played by your phone. You'll hear a ringtone when someone calls you, provided your phone isn't set to vibrate or silent.

Ringback Tones aren't downloaded to your phone. Instead, the Ringback Tone is played by our network to your callers before you answer the call or the caller is diverted to Voice Mail. The person calling you hears the Ringback Tone.

  2. What is a Ringback Tone?

Ringback Tones is a personalization service, which replaces the standard ringing sound for your friends and family to enjoy when they call you. Instead, you choose a song or clip for your callers to hear before you pick up a call or they're sent to Voice Mail.

  3. What is the ringtones and Ringback Tones feature available through Slacker Radio?

Visit our Slacker Radio Tones FAQs for more information about this feature.

  4. What kinds of ringtones and Ringback Tones are available?

Over 90,000 ringtones and Ringback Tones are available in a wide variety of genres. If you can't find the title you want by genre, try searching by artist name or song title. Playlists are also available to purchase a collection of Ringback Tones at a discounted cost.

  5. How much do ringtones and Ringback Tones cost?

Ringtones are $2.99 each. Ringback Tones are $1.99 each.

    Notes:

    • The Ringback Tones service is also $0.99 per month for each phone on your account using Ringback Tones.

    • When you buy a Ringback Tone, you're also buying a license to use it for a year.

    • Ringtones and Ringback Tones can't be shared with other phones on your account. For example, if two people on the same account want the same ringtone, each person will have to purchase it.

  6. What is a Ringback Tones Playlist?

A Ringback Tones Playlist includes several different Ringback Tones that rotate each time you receive a call. Playlists improve the calling experience by adding variety. There's no additional charge for using Playlist. You can create up to 5 Playlists.

Learn more about Ringback Tones Playlists from our How to Use Guide.

  7. How many ringtones can I purchase?

You can purchase an unlimited amount of ringtones.

Note: Ringtones and Ringback Tones can't be shared with other phones on your account. For example, if two people on the same account want the same ringtone, each person will have to purchase it.

  8. How many Ringback Tones can I purchase?
