Accessibility is a wonderful thing…if you’re like me, you don’t ever want to miss a call. Between work, family, friends, or the cable guy saying he’s on the way, it’s always good to know you can be reached. So what happens when you rush out the door and leave your mobile phone at home? No worries. Set up Call Forwarding through My Verizon and you’ll be staying in touch with anyone trying to reach you.
To forward your calls simply go to www.verizonwireless.com/callforwarding and sign in to your “My Verizon” account, or if you’re already signed in, select “Call Forwarding” from the “More Actions” menu on the Account Overview page. Here you can use Call Forwarding to temporarily forward your calls to a landline or another mobile number.
If you have multiple numbers on your account, you’ll first select the number that you want forwarded. Choose if you would like to forward all calls, forward calls only when your line is busy, or if there is no answer. If you choose to forward calls only when your line is busy or there is no answer, your phone will ring several times when you get an incoming call, giving you the chance to answer. If you’re on the phone or choose not to answer, the call will be forwarded to the destination phone number. You’ll still be able to make outbound calls with this feature activated.
Once you have made your selection, enter the number you want to have your calls forwarded to, and click “Update call forwarding status” and you’re done! Now when you’re ready to cancel call forwarding, simply repeat the steps above and select “Cancel Call Forwarding”.
Call forwarding can also be setup directly from your phone. Simply dial *72, enter the 10-digit phone number you want to forward calls to - for example, *72-555-123-4567, and hit Send or Call. Wait for the confirmation tone or message and then hang up. That’s it. To forward calls only when your line is busy or there is no answer, press *71 and the 10-digit number you want to forward calls to. Press Send and wait for the confirmation tone. To turn off Call Forwarding just dial *73 and wait for the confirmation tone or message. Then hang up. It’s that simple.
Just a couple of things to keep in mind that once you have forwarded your calls, your mobile phone won’t ring until you cancel the call forwarding, and your text and picture messages will not be forwarded. Also, airtime usage still applies to the forwarded calls, even if you are sending your calls to a landline phone. You will also be billed for any toll or long distance charges if you are forwarding calls to a phone number outside your local calling area.
So go ahead…rush, walk, or dance out that door. With Call Forwarding from Verizon Wireless you won’t be out of the loop from friends, family, or work.
