OtterBox Defender Series Case For Pixel 2 is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Protection. Fit is worst ever experienced. I have owned probably a dozen Otter box cases for iPhones, LG and Motorola phones. Always a good experience. This time, not so much. The fit of the cover with plastic screen protector leaves a significant gap which allows dust and other particles to get between the Pixel2 glass screen and the plastic clear protector. This obviously doesn't look great but I am more concerned that these particles will scratch the phone's screen. In addition, the gap between the two surfaces results in incredibly poor touch response. This fit pretty much renders the case useless and Otterbox definitely doesn't give these cases away. I don't want to purchase a different case but need protection. Phones these days are incredibly fragile AND expensive.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I expected what I always got, but... This time it fell short. Somewhat underwhelmed with this unit. This will be my 4th Otter (I’ve always used them with my Motorola phones) and now that I have a Google Pixel2 it was a natural choice. Although it DOES protect the phone and makes it easier to handle. The screen cover does sit well above the glass screen as stated by other posters. I added a glass screen protector, hoping it would take up the gap, but no. There was still a space. So I removed the plastic cover. It works better now, but I shouldn’t have had to do this. The second lapse is in the engineering of the case. Like I said, it certainly protects the case. But the retention latch on the case is placed ‘off center’ (primarily due to the Pixels’ volume control being almost at the center point. If you’re left handed. Everything works out well. When removing the phone from the carrier, your index finger easily accesses the power/volume controls and the camera eye is at the top. But if your RIGHT handed, as I am, the phone is upside down in the carrier... When the phone is in its carrier, the phones’ controls are at your pinky and the camera eye is obscured by your palm. If you place the phone in the carrier, as it should be for a right handed user, the retention latch is pressing on the volume control, and not the Otter case retention point. The retainer latch should be an inch to the right.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Engineering Design Flaw I purchased the Pixel 2 on Black Friday 2017, and got the Otterbox Defender case with it, from my local Verizon store. The case itself will protect the phone, as Otterbox is known for. However, and as others have pointed out, the screen protector does not lay flush over the phone's screen, and this allows dirt and debris to get between the two. Within a week, there will be so much junk in there that you have to take the case apart and clean everything. Over time, that will cause things to wear out faster and/or break. Until this issue gets resolved, I would suggest using a different case. Given the price that we pay for an Otterbox, it should have better quality control than this. Otterbox needs to make good on this case, and offer free replacements for anyone that uses one, after a fix has been implemented.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Always love Otterbox, this time, Meh!! Bought the defender after I preorderd my Pixel 2. Case went together fine, but after a few days dust and other foreign matter gets betwee the protective screen and the phones screen. This results in a case opening every few days. Also, the belt clip hinge snapped off after a week of use. Will have to contact Otterbox.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good case but... I've had OtterBox Defender Cases on my phones for many years and I love their products. However, I recently got a Pixel 2 and the OtterBox case is not a good fit for this phone. It will probably protect it from drops but there is a gap between the screen protector and the phone's screen. This allows dirt, dust, hair, etc to become trapped under the screen protector. In less than a week or normal use it became intolerable. Thinking it was just a bad unit I called Otterbox and they said it should not be like that. I took the case back and exchanged it for another case. The second case seemed better for about a day before it too started collecting debris (I'm not in an especially dirty environment, well except for dog hair). I've never had this problem with their other cases so either I got 2 bad cases or there is a design flaw in the Pixel 2 unit. Either way it is unacceptable. Since I do like the protection the hard case offers, I opted to purchase a glass screen saver and take out the Otterbox protector. Problem may be solved but one shouldn't have to re-work a relatively expensive case in a way that adds to the cost of protection. Otterbox, you can, and should, do better on your engineering.
