I love going to the gym but can’t always fit it into my day. That’s why the Fitbit Charge 2 is perfect for me. I call it my all-purpose fitness tracker.
All I have to do is wear the Fitbit Charge 2 on my wrist, and it records all my activities 24/7. The number of steps I’ve taken, the total distance I’ve covered, how many calories I’ve burned, how many minutes I’ve been active — even the number of floors I’ve climbed. It’s all in there, so I know as the day rolls along how I’m doing just by glancing at the screen. It’s the ultimate carrot-on-a-stick motivator.
Whatever your fitness regimen, this fits.
Fitbit Charge 2 fits the way I live. I don’t have to carve out an hour every day to work out. I can work in — that is, get my daily dose of cardio by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Or by walking instead of driving when I need to do errands. All those extra steps add up.
If you’re competitive, like I am, you’ll invent new ways to test yourself with Fitbit. I like to pace the room while I’m on the phone at work to see how many steps I log per call. (A friend of mine who works in one of our branch offices does the same thing with her Fitbit. If we’re on the same conference call, we’ll text each other afterward to see who logged the most steps.)
Stay on track with your fitness goals.
Don’t get me wrong — I also do a lot of conventional cardio, and Fitbit Charge 2 is great for that, too. It distinguishes between different types of exercises and automatically records the results in the Fitbit app. Multi-sport tracking lets me shift seamlessly from running to biking in case I decide to pedal a few miles at lunch instead of going for a jog. (Yes, I’m one of those people you see out there biking in the dead of winter.)
And when I do make it to the gym, Fitbit 2 helps me stay focused so I get maximum results in the shortest amount of time. Minutes aren’t always the best measuring stick; heart rate and calorie-burn rate matter, too.
Fitness should be fun.
But I think I like Fitbit Charge 2 best on weekends when I can hang out at the gym with my friends as long as I want. Most of them have Fitbits, too. We’re constantly coming up with new ways to challenge each other, and Fitbit Charge 2 lets us devise new and interesting ways to keep score. Fitbit Charge 2 even monitors our sleep patterns, so, yes, we compare results there, too. Competitive sleeping, anyone?
The best times are when we have the gym to ourselves and can crank up some tunes. (Luckily the manager likes us — and our music!) That’s when my JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth Speaker comes in especially handy. The Flip 3 can wirelessly connect to three smartphones at once, which means that my friends and I can take turns with our tunes.
But we never just “take turns,” of course. Instead, we turn it into another competition. We call it the “Strongest Songs Challenge.” The rules are simple: Win the challenge and you control the music.
