Companies innovate in many different ways. Verizon established its Innovation Program to encourage the growth and development of the 4G LTE ecosystem and to uncover ways to wirelessly connect just about anything. With industry experts predicting more than 50 billion connected things – both people and machines – in the next few years, creating reliable, meaningful and on-target solutions has never been more important.

Verizon’s Innovation Program now has more than 200 participants and, to date, more than 30 products on the market, ranging from digital jukeboxes and telepresence robots to routers and gateways embedded with 4G LTE connectivity. The recently-introduced Verizon 4G LTE Router is one of the first solutions from the Innovation Program to be sold in Verizon Wireless stores.

Much of the work is concentrated at the Verizon Innovation Center in Waltham, Mass. In addition to providing opportunities to demonstrate and showcase solutions, the Center is also home to working labs, where engineers from Verizon and participant companies work side-by-side to develop, test and refine solutions.

Nearing the two-year anniversary of its official opening in July 2011, the Innovation Center in Massachusetts has hosted hundreds of customers, prospective collaborators, and companies both large and small, who have seen the kinds of solutions that are possible. The Center in Waltham has also won prestigious awards, including being named a World Class Center by the Association of Briefing Program Managers and receiving LEED Gold certification.
