SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Today more than 60 Springfield area parents and children working to overcome homelessness through Project Permanency will ride Riverside's Hellevator, Black Widow, and Cyclone and enjoy other amusement park attractions.

Bell Atlantic Mobile and Riverside Park are hosting a free day at the park for Project Permanency, a transitional living program run by The Children's Study Home in Springfield, Mass.

"For many of the children, this will be their first trip to an amusement park," said Chuck Murphy, Director of Marketing for Bell Atlantic Mobile. "We hope their day will be an experience they'll treasure forever."

Project Permanency currently provides 32 families with subsidized housing for a period of 18-24 months, and combines educational programming with social activities to assist families in the attainment of permanent housing. A case worker meets with the families on a weekly basis, and assists with their housing, health and educational issues.

"We are very grateful to Bell Atlantic Mobile and Riverside Park," said Mary Lou Robinson, Project Permanency Coordinator. "This is a great opportunity for our children and families to enjoy a day at Riverside that would not be possible without their support."
