SPARTANBURG, SC — Verizon Wireless, formerly Bell Atlantic Mobile, is helping to boost Upstate students knowledge through technology, by donating computer equipment to local schools. Twenty computers and keyboards, plus accessories will be given to Boiling Springs High School on Monday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m.

"Computers are a necessity in today's learning process, and without these tools the students here in the Upstate would fall behind in technology" said Jerry Fountain, Verizon Wireless President - Carolinas. "As a company, we're proud to be able to contribute to education."

The 20 computers and keyboards will be placed in the classrooms and used for everyday instruction. "We're very grateful, " said Harriette Hipp, Student Activities Coordinator at Boiling Springs High School. "It's reassuring that businesses like Verizon Wireless are willing to give back to the community and especially through local schools."

This is the third computer donation Verizon Wireless has participated in the Upstate. The Washington Center and East Gantt Elementary School in Greenville have both received computers.
