Libertyville, IL — Improved clarity with the addition of color to the digital display screen of wireless handsets makes its debut today as Motorola and Verizon Wireless announce the Timeport P8767 wireless phone. The green, blue and red phone display, developed by Motorola and Tohoku Pioneer Corporation enhances consumers ability to navigate the phone's menus and surf the web* via the Internet-capable wireless phone.

Verizon Wireless is the first service provider to offer the Timeport P8767 phone to customers through Verizon Wireless stores nationwide. The Timeport P8767 phone can be used with all of the company's SingleRate(SM) digital service plans as well as the recently introduced Mobile Web service that combines access to World Wide Web-based information with the ability to personalize that information. The Timeport P8767 phone is priced at approximately $300 with a minimum of a one-year service agreement.

The new Motorola Timeport P8767 phone uses Organic Electroluminescent (Organic EL) technology that, until now, has only been utilized in car stereos developed by Pioneer Corporation. The Organic EL technology allows for greatly enhanced readability in most lighting conditions. Even under dim lighting, the Organic EL display provides a clear, vivid screen that enables users to easily see detailed characters and graphics while accessing the web. Due to the new Organic EL technology and the phone's energy efficient architecture, there is a minimal impact on the phone's 160 hours** of standby time and 3.5 hours** of talk time with the standard battery.

"The multi-color display provides consumers with an easier way to distinguish among features that are offered on Motorola's new Timeport P8767 phone. Even more exciting is that with its microbrowser, consumers can retrieve information that is relevant to their lifestyle, like sports scores, weather and traffic reports, stock prices and more from the Internet* at the touch of a couple of buttons," said Ron Garriques, corporate vice president and general manager within Motorola's Personal Communications Sector. "This is another example of Motorola leading the way in bringing new technologies to a wireless phone."

The sleek and stylish Timeport P8767 phone not only provides a display with a multi-color format, but also gives the user heightened coverage through its tri-mode Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology. The new digital wireless phones coupled with Verizon Wireless network capability can provide consumers seamless transitioning between two types of digital wireless and first generation analog systems, helping increasing the potential for continuous coverage. The product's enhanced phonebook allows storage of 99 contacts with up to four numbers per contact - easily viewable with the new Organic EL display.

While boasting a compact design, Motorola's Timeport P8767 phone also offers VibraCall(r) alert; an integrated headset jack; a 4-line display screen; data and fax capability. Optional Starfish TrueSync(r) software is also available for one step multipoint synchronization***.
