ATLANTA — Jim McGean has been named president - Georgia Region for Verizon Wireless, announced Jack Plating, president - Southeast Area. McGean was formerly the director - Integration Management for Verizon Wireless.

In his new role, McGean will be responsible for the region's retail, indirect and business sales functions, marketing, finance and operations. His experience in the wireless industry spans 13 years and includes product and pricing management, retail distribution, market development and operations. He has held positions of increasing responsibility, including director-Retail Distribution, director-Strategic Marketing and regional manager-Marketing and Distribution, with GTE Wireless prior to its merger with Bell Atlantic Mobile, AirTouch Cellular and PrimeCo Personal Communications to become Verizon Wireless.

McGean received his bachelor's degree from Emory University in economics. He later earned his master's degree from Georgia State University in finance. He currently lives in Dunwoody with his family.
