ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Verizon Wireless has signed a three-year agreement to be the Official Wireless Sponsor of the Rochester Americans hockey team and the Rochester Knighthawks lacrosse team. As the Official Wireless Sponsor, the wireless carrier will have prominent signage at the Blue Cross Arena and will also have its logo on the helmet of every Amerks and Knighthawks player.
"Verizon Wireless is proud to be a sponsor of the Amerks and the Knighthawks, Rochester's hometown hockey and lacrosse teams," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region. "It's an honor to display our logo on the helmets of two teams that are an important part of the Rochester community."
In addition to appearing on the players' helmets, the Verizon Wireless logo will appear in-ice for hockey games and on the artificial carpet for all lacrosse games at The Arena this season.

The Rochester Americans play in the American Hockey League. The Rochester Knighthawks play in the National Lacrosse League.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it places Verizon Wireless among the largest supporters of local professional sports in Rochester.
