CHICAGO, IL — Verizon Wireless has announced a nationwide offer that gives customers 2,000 free weekend airtime minutes per month when they sign up for selected national, regional or local digital rate plans. For Verizon Wireless National SingleRateSM customers, the additional minutes translate into free weekend long-distance on Verizon Wireless' coast-to-coast network and no roaming charges regardless of where they go in the United States. The 2,000 free weekend minutes are available to existing as well as new customers and they keep the minutes as long as they stay on the same rate plan and sign a new contract.

"More and more customers are using their wireless service from home because, depending upon their plan, it can save them money on long distance charges," said Greg Klimek, President of the Illinois/Wisconsin Region for Verizon Wireless. "This plan helps accommodate that need. Customers have affordable choices of digital service, $29.99 for local or regional digital service and $35 for nationwide calling. Many find it more economical to use their phone not only for business but also for weekend fun when they have time to relax and enjoy visiting -- wirelessly, at no additional charge."

Included in this limited offer is a specially priced handset, a Motorola V2260, for $19.99, with a two-year service agreement. Additionally, customers who sign a two-year contract for $35 or more monthly access are also automatically enrolled in New Every Two. New Every Two gives customers who sign up for a new two-year digital wireless service plan a free handset (up to $100 value) when they renew their two-year service agreement.

"This is a worry free offer for customers," said Klimek. "An affordable wireless phone that is protected against obsolescence, digital plans that give customers access to an outstanding wireless network and free weekend minutes that can be used with any of the services offered by Verizon Wireless."

Customers' 2,000 free airtime weekend minutes can also be used with MobileWeb as long as they sign either a one or two-year contract. Mobile Web gives customers access to World Wide Web-based information and the ability to personalize that information.

Customers may visit any of Verizon Wireless' 1,200 Communications Stores located across the company's expansive footprint and sign up for new service on selected digital rate plans and receive the 2,000 free weekend minutes. Additionally, the service offer is available at RadioShack and all authorized Verizon Wireless agents and retailers.
