ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless has added capacity to three key Elmira-area cell sites, improving wireless coverage and capacity along Routes 17, 14 and 427, and in the cities of Elmira, Horseheads, Big Flats, and Waverly.
According to Gene Fassett, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region, upgrading capacity and hardware at the sites will provide the wireless carrier's Elmira-area subscribers and travelers with improved wireless coverage when making cellular calls across the region.
The site upgrades are part of the $4 billion investment program this year to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $100 million of that investment is being used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the Upstate New York region.
