MILWAUKEE, WI — Over the past 60 days, six new cell sites have been added in Wisconsin as part of Verizon Wireless' $4 billion investment in network improvements nationwide in 2001, $25 million of which is dedicated to their network in the Badger State.

"We are very pleased to see such aggressive network growth," said Greg Klimek, president - Wisconsin/Illinois Region. "This investment allows Wisconsin customers to continue to have unsurpassed wireless service."

Milwaukee has two new sites, one serving the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and its surrounding area and the other the North Side of Milwaukee along Highway 41. Madison now boasts four new sites. Three of those are located along the heavily traveled Highway 151 corridor from Madison to Fond du Lac. The fourth site is west of Madison in Deerfield.

The $25 million investment is designed to enhance Verizon Wireless' digital wireless network to support the delivery of the most advanced wireless voice and data services to its customers. Verizon Wireless is expanding coverage and increasing capacity in its switching centers and cell sites to handle the strong demand for its wireless services.

Customer growth, greater usage due to high-value pricing like SingleRateSM national and regional plans, and the popularity of Mobile Web wireless Internet services are driving the local demand for Verizon Wireless' services.
