PORTLAND, OR — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, has announced the expansion of its digital network in the Eugene area.
"These new cell sites will provide area customers with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls in the region," said Gregg Clausius, Pacific Northwest Area Executive Director-Network for Verizon Wireless.
The existing analog cell sites that were converted to digital extend digital coverage to the following areas: west of Noti and covering Highway 126 from approximately Veneta west to milepost 31; northeast of Lowell and covering Highway 58 from Pleasant Hill to milepost 20 at the east end of Lookout Point Lake, and east of Lowell and covering Highway 126 east to milepost 32 and west to approximately Walterville.
The digital conversion is part of the company's $35.5 million investment in Oregon this year to improve its nationwide wireless network.
