SAN RAMON, CA — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider has announced the expansion of its digital network in and around the Lake Tahoe area.

"These new cell sites will provide Lake Tahoe area customers with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls in the region," said Chris Neisinger, Executive Director of Network for Northern California/Nevada Region.

The four existing analog sites that were converted to digital extend digital coverage to the following areas: Tahoe Blvd east and west from Crystal Bay to Highway 267; Incline Village, Mount Rose Highway and the north side of Lake Tahoe; Highway 50 from Nevada state line, east to Kingsbury Grade Road; the areas of Tahoe City, Lake Forest, Cedar Flat, Carnelian Bay, Lake Tahoe and Highway 28 south to Highway 89 and Highway 28 north to Highway 267.

The digital conversion is part of the company's approximately $290 million investment in the Northern California/Nevada Region this year to improve its nationwide wireless network.
