Verizon Wireless Encourages Community to "Join in" and Support LACASA This Holiday Season

BRIGHTON, MI — The Verizon Wireless Communications Center in Brighton is collecting new, unwrapped gift items to be donated to LACASA, a domestic violence shelter serving Livingston County. The drive, being held now through December 21, is open to the public for participation.

Verizon Wireless is located at 8159 Challis Road at Grand River and I-96 (in front of Target). Donations will help many families who come to LACASA for support.

"At Verizon Wireless, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities in which our employees and customers live and work," said Al Covay, manager of Verizon Wireless' Brighton store. "Our employees are determined to fulfill every wish on LACASA's list. We invite the Livingston community to help us reach this goal."

The following "Wish List" items will assist LACASA residents now and through next year. (All donated items must be new, unwrapped and unopened.)

About LACASA

LACASA, established in 1981, is a nonprofit agency in Livingston County that provides comprehensive services for domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse victims, their families and friends. It is the philosophy of LACASA that domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse are not private problems, but those that must be recognized and responded to by the entire community. LACASA provides emergency and transitional shelter, free and confidential counseling, support groups, on-call response services, legal and individual advocacy, sexual assault recovery assistance, prevention and education services, and information and referrals. LACASA also provides crisis line counseling 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for immediate assistance, and information.
