ROCHESTER, NY — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless provider, today announced the expansion of its code division multiple access (CDMA) digital wireless network in Upstate New York. The wireless carrier added new cell sites and made technology enhancements to existing sites in Rochester, Allegany County, Chautauqua County, Chenango County, Jefferson County, Schuyler County, and Seneca County.
CDMA digital wireless technology provides wireless users with greater call clarity and security, longer battery life and talk time, and the ability to use advanced wireless services such as Internet access and text messaging.
"These digital network upgrades will provide our customers with improved wireless coverage when using our voice and data services," said Gene Fassett, executive director of network for Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region.
The network expansions are part of Verizon Wireless' $4 billion investment to improve and extend the reach of its nationwide network. More than $100 million of that investment is being used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the Upstate New York region.
