NEW YORK, NY — Verizon Wireless has expanded service coverage in Queens with three new cell sites in Long Island City, Woodside and Kew Gardens.

"The new cell sites will provide customers who live in and travel through these areas with greater wireless network coverage and increased clarity when making wireless calls," said Heidi Hemmer, Verizon Wireless Director of Engineering in metropolitan New York.

The site in Long Island City improves coverage on Broadway from 24th Street to 38th Street, sections of 30th Avenue and 34th Avenue, as well as sections of 31st Street.

The Woodside site enhances wireless calling on Route 25, 45th Avenue, Maurice Avenue and Woodside Avenue.

In Kew Gardens, the new site improves service on sections of Route 25, the Van Wyck Expressway, Union Turnpike and Hoover Avenue.

The new sites are part of a $4 billion investment program last year to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless nationwide network. More than $300 million of that investment was used to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless products and services in the New York Metro area.
