The Verizon Wireless VX1 has slick packaging and wow-factor functionality that can be used with a laptop to access Verizon Wireless' Express Network, the nation's only high-speed wireless data network with a sizeable footprint. Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier's Express Network subscribers can access their e-mail, company network or Internet at average data transmission speeds between 40 and 60 kilobits per second with bursts up to 144 kbps.

With its crisp graphics-capable screen display, four-way mouse key and predictive text input capability, short text messaging-oriented consumers will also find the Verizon Wireless VX1 is ideally suited for sending and receiving text messages and images. Verizon Wireless recently announced that its customers with two-way messaging capable phones can send and receive text messages from most wireless customers - regardless of the carrier -- through its Mobile MessengerSM service.

"Our customers have told us they want the latest technology, the fastest access possible and a range of equipment options to support their wireless service choices," said John Stratton, vice president and chief marketing officer of Verizon Wireless. "The Verizon Wireless VX1 by LG Mobile Phones is a true next-generation device that meets those needs. It can handle text messaging and voice, plus act as a modem for Express Network customers as they access the Internet, e-mail, and corporate intranet applications."

"LG Mobile Phones, as a leading worldwide provider of communications equipment and solutions, developed this device to support Verizon Wireless' high speed Express Network," said Les Begay, director of DCN sales for LG Mobile Phones. "Customers will find this phone loaded with features that include LG Mobile Phone's characteristic external LCD, which allows users to view incoming calls, signal strength, battery reference level, date and time - all without opening the handset."

The VX1, which retails for $199.99 with a two-year service agreement, is available online at www.verizonwireless.com and at Verizon Wireless' 1,200 Communications Stores nationwide. To access the Express Network with the VX1, customers will also need a compatible Mobile Office data connectivity kit. The Mobile Office Kit, retails for $79.99 and is available at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores as well as the online store. Through May 31, customers will get a $20 instant rebate, making the final cost $59.99, when they purchase the Mobile Office Kit with the VX1 phone.

Verizon Wireless' Express Network expansion started in late January and is now available on one-third of its nationwide network. Customers with a monthly digital voice calling plan of $35 or more can sign up for the Express Network, which lets customers use any of their airtime allowance minutes for voice or data, for an additional $30 per month.

For enterprise customers, Verizon Wireless recently announced pricing based on mega byte usage for heavy data users with rate plans starting at $35 per month for 10 MB, $55 per month for 20 MB, with tiers up to 150 MB of data. On the $35 monthly rate plan, customers can download 10 MB of data - equivalent to thousands of e-mails or hundreds of Web pages. Pricing may vary slightly by market.
