BEDMINSTER, NJ — Network investments are paying off for the operator of the nation's best wireless network, Verizon Wireless. In addition to naming The Four Seasons hotel chain, Travelocity travel Web site and the BMW 745i automobile as editor's choice, Worth magazine ranked Verizon Wireless as the best wireless service in its annual "A List" of the finest goods and services in the July/August 2002 issue. In the past two years, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $8 billion in its network nationally; with these upgrades, the company has expanded coverage and enhanced its network, making it the best and largest wireless network in the country. Not only has Verizon Wireless invested heavily in its voice network, but also has been developing its high-speed data network to bring another industry first to its customers. With the national rollout of the Verizon Wireless Express NetworkSM, the company boasts the fastest national high-speed data network, now in more than 300 cities across America.

Over the past twelve months, the Verizon Wireless network has received numerous awards from leading publications and analyst firms. Earlier this year, Technology Business Research, a leading industry firm, ranked Verizon Wireless Number One in 4Q 2001 benchmark results and added, "Verizon Wireless is the number one positioned mobile operator in the United States."

Wireless Review said in June 2001 that Verizon Wireless is the Titan of Wireless, stating, "Voice clarity and coverage efficiency are crucial. Verizon Wireless…has both of these areas covered." The magazine went on to observe, "As the company grows, it's continuing to upgrade its networks and has added network-monitoring technologies."

"We have 60 engineers who drive 100,000 miles a month to identify areas where we need to improve service. Their findings influence where we invest in our network, and the investments are paying off," said Lowell McAdam, executive vice president and COO of Verizon Wireless. "The enhancements are part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment strategy that helps us stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. Our relentless pursuit of network excellence translates to customers' satisfaction - and these awards reinforce what we've been saying: Verizon Wireless never stops working for you."
