MORRISTOWN, NJ — New Jersey Hospitals Association (NJHA), in Princeton, has signed a new three-year agreement with Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless carrier, for 15,000 wireless phones and service for use by hospital corporations and their employees. The agreement, valued at more than $5.5 million annually, covers all member hospitals and healthcare organizations in New Jersey as well as those in metropolitan Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and Maryland, and New York City.

Employees who take advantage of the agreement with Verizon Wireless will enjoy service on the most extensive and reliable national wireless network. In addition, they can choose from a variety of wireless data services to enhance their ability to keep in touch with co-workers and other healthcare professionals. Verizon Wireless' Express NetworkSM service is the fastest, national high-speed data network offering customers the ability to access the Internet, send and receive e-mail and use corporate Intranet applications in over 300 cities at speeds comparable to dial-up speeds from their home PC. In addition, customers with two-way text-messaging phones may use Mobile MessengerSM service for sending and receiving short, discrete text messages.

The agreement includes discounts for service, promotions and equipment, and is available to NJHA member employees working at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, blood centers and to visiting nurses and home care workers. Data services are priced separately.

"Verizon Wireless has been a valued strategic partner for more than five years," said William Kennedy, NJHA senior vice president of corporate services. "We're pleased to be able to make this enhanced offer to our members and their employees. We based our decision on Verizon Wireless' reliable nationwide network, the company's customer service and support and the competitive prices they offered."
