GREEN BAY, WI — Verizon Wireless today announced that it has entered into a long-term agreement with the Green Bay Packers to be one of the major gate sponsors at Lambeau Field. The Verizon Wireless gate will be located on Ridge Road (north), close to Lombardi Avenue.

Green Bay Packers President Bob Harlan said, "We're pleased that yet another strong and highly recognizable firm like Verizon Wireless has stepped forward to team up with us."

The sponsorship covers a seven-year period through the 2009 National Football League season. Financial terms of the sponsorship were not disclosed. Major provisions in the sponsorship agreement include the following:

  • Verizon Wireless will have prominent signage throughout Lambeau Field.
  • Verizon Wireless will continue its role as the official wireless communications provider of the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field.
  • Verizon Wireless will sponsor the Junior Captain Program. (Children, ages 7 to 14, may register at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in Wisconsin. A winner will be selected at random for each game, and the child selected will get to accompany the Packers Team Captains for the official coin toss at a Lambeau Field home game.)
  • Verizon Wireless will have exclusive rights to the Packers team marks, allowing the company to use the Green Bay Packers, Lambeau Field and Titletown trademarks in both permanent and non-permanent point-of-sale advertising materials.

Additionally, the Packers and Verizon Wireless will jointly host an event in support of domestic violence awareness and prevention. At one Packer home game each season, fans will be encouraged to bring in their unused wireless phones and donate them to Verizon Wireless' exclusive HopeLine program. The wireless handsets collected at Lambeau Field will be refurbished, recycled and/or sold with proceeds benefiting the victims of domestic violence in Wisconsin.

"We are thrilled to expand our agreement with the Green Bay Packers and extend our relationship with a team and landmark that are such inseparable parts of Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Wisconsin/Illinois Region. "The Packers and Verizon Wireless make a great team. The Packers are a premier organization with an extraordinary tradition of dedication, determination and excellence. Those are qualities we embrace as a company."

She added, "With the Packers being the most recognized sports team in the state and perhaps the country, this new deal will give us an exceptionally high degree of visibility, reaching hundreds of thousands of potential customers each season."
