BEDMINSTER, NJ — Aberdeen Group, a leading market analysis and positioning services firm, announced today in its publication of the Best Practices in Online Services Procurement (OSP) report that Verizon Wireless, the leading provider of wireless communications, represents a best practice in the contract labor procurement arena with its deployment of InSite from Fieldglass Inc.

In the report, Aberdeen identified enterprise companies that have been the most successful in deploying Online Services Procurement (OSP) solutions automating the purchase of travel, print, and contract labor services to control costs, streamline processes, and enhance responsiveness.

"The recognition from the Aberdeen Group solidifies a long-standing goal at Verizon Wireless to be recognized for our solutions to business challenges," said Cheryl Rowden, director-IT Finance, for Verizon Wireless. "As new challenges present themselves, we are quick to find vendors that will supply a solution that will ultimately help our customers - and this award recognizes that effort."

"Business services represent more than half a company's purchasing dollars, yet they have eluded the discipline of well-defined procurement procedures, due to the multiple activities and parties involved in procuring and managing them," said Christa Degnan, senior analyst, Supply Chain Research at Aberdeen. "Web-based OSP solutions focusing on the complexity of services help organizations manage more of their total indirect spending, particularly important as companies struggle with a prolonged recession. Companies like Verizon Wireless are ahead of the curve by implementing strategic OSP solutions."

As a result of evaluating over 30 enterprises, Aberdeen identified eleven companies, three in each of the categories of travel, print, and contract labor, and two All Stars in multiple service areas. The enterprises representing best practice deployments in the contract labor arena were Verizon Wireless using a solution from Fieldglass Inc.; Railtrack PLC, using a solution from Netengines Worldwide Ltd.; and Texas Instruments Inc., using a solution from CascadeWorks Inc.

Along with winning OSP Best Practice case studies, the report contains services procurement market information and analysis of the business challenges, top tips for implementation success, as well as lessons learned from deployments. Overall, the report illustrates that OSP has become a viable software niche answering pressing business needs not addressed by existing traditional e-Procurement and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
