Verizon Wireless Expands Express Network In Northwest Indiana

CHICAGO, IL — Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider, has expanded its high-speed wireless data network in the following Indiana cities: Gary, Merrillville, Crown Point, Schererville, Portage, and Valparaiso. Express Network^SM was launched earlier this year in Chicago as part of the company's initial rollout of high-speed wireless services and is currently available in approximately 900 cities and towns across the country.

"With the freedom and flexibility that Express Network service affords, being out of the office no longer means being out of the loop," said Tracy Nolan, president of Verizon Wireless' Illinois/Wisconsin Region. "It's about increased productivity when traveling; there are no worries about a phone jack or fears about missing an important email from a customer or not having access to important files. With average data transmission speeds between 40 and 60 kilobits per second (kbps) - and bursts up to 144 kbps - customers will experience speeds similar to or better than dialing from their home PC."

The 1XRTT network enhances all levels of wireless communication, from voice transmission, Internet browsing and email, to enterprise applications that give companies with mobile employees tools for increased productivity and efficiency. Express Network also enhances the wireless experience of many specialized, vertical applications, such as telemetry, transaction processing and database access.
