HAZLET, NJ — NY Jets defensive end John Abraham, WKTU's Balthazar and WPLJ's Monkey Boy will be on hand next weekend to celebrate the grand opening of the new Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Hazlet, New Jersey at 2996 Route 35 South in the Kmart Plaza, next to Hollywood Video.

The grand opening celebration will run from Thursday, February 6 through Monday, February 10, 2003. In addition to the guest appearances, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, a host of special offerings, give-aways and festivities are planned.

Customers who activate service or purchase a phone with a one or two- year service agreement on Saturday, February 8, 2003, during the early bird special between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., will receive a $25 gift certificate to TGI Friday's, while supplies last.

The Hazlet store is one of five Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in Monmouth County. Last August, the company held a HopeLineSM Phone Recycling Program at the stores to benefit 180 Turning Lives Around, Monmouth County's leading domestic violence agency. As a result of the drive, the company donated $6,000 to the agency to assist victims of domestic violence.

Through the Verizon Wireless HopeLine Recycling Program, the company collects used wireless phones to be refurbished, recycled or sold. Proceeds are donated to domestic violence advocacy groups or used to purchase phones for victims. As a result of HopeLine and related phone recycling programs the company has organized since 1995, Verizon Wireless has collected more than 940,000 used wireless phones for the benefit of domestic violence victims, including nearly 60,000 wireless handsets in the New York Metro area. Donations are accepted at all 66 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in the New York Metro area. For store locations and additional information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.
