BEDMINSTER, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless provider and a leader in mobile data, today announced its customers with two-way text-messaging capable phones can vote - and have it count - towards selecting the MVP of the 2003 NBA All-Star Game being played on Sunday, February 9, beginning at 8 p.m. ET and airing live on TNT and NBA on ESPN Radio.

Right now, fans can pre-register for the wireless voting directly from their Verizon Wireless phones by sending the TXT message "MVP" to "N-B-A" (622). Fans can also log on and pre-register for the voting at NBA.com. Once the MVP candidates have been selected during the NBA All-Star Game's second half, the ballots will be sent directly to all pre-registrants' phones. Fans that do not have a chance to pre-register can send the TXT message "MVP" to "N-B-A" (622) from their Verizon Wireless phone during the game, or simply log on and cast their ballot at NBA.com.

Pre-registered Verizon Wireless customers will receive a TXT message listing candidates for MVP when voting begins. Customers will be charged according to their text messaging plan rates.

All votes received through Verizon Wireless' TXT Messaging and NBA.com will be calculated in real time and will count towards the overall voting for the award. The 52nd NBA All-Star Game will be played at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Verizon Wireless customers who sign up for TXT Messaging, short text messaging service, through March 31, 2003 will receive unlimited TXT messages and alerts for just $2.99 monthly access until June 30, 2003. After the promotional period, customers will be allowed 100 messages at $2.99 monthly access, with excess messages charged at $.02 received and $.10 sent.
