BEDMINSTER, NJ and ORLANDO, FL — Verizon Wireless and Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) announced today at Citrix Solutions Summit™ that the two companies have signed an agreement to provide enhanced mobility solutions to the government, education, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and telecommunications industries.

The joint solution provides superior performance due to the advanced network protocol offered by Citrix and Verizon Wireless' high-speed wireless data network-its Express NetworkSM. Specifically, this solution will provide customers with access to any application or information at any time, using Citrix® MetaFrame® software on the Verizon Wireless nationwide Express Network.

The companies have entered into an arrangement to work with each other's channels and sales teams to sell the joint solution. Select Verizon Wireless Master Data Agents have become part of the Citrix Solutions Network™, and Citrix has made Verizon Wireless a Premier-level member of the Citrix Business Alliance™ (CBA), expanding shared marketing and sales opportunities for both companies.

Organizations such as New Jersey American Water and the New Jersey Family Advocate Program/United Ways of New Jersey already benefit from enhanced wireless access to full-featured business applications by improving remote worker productivity and customer response time using Citrix and Verizon Wireless' joint solutions. Joint Benefits: Performance and Security

Citrix MetaFrame software enhances the performance of applications that are accessed wirelessly because it eliminates the need to transfer or download entire applications over a wireless network. Since application processing takes place on a central server, only keystrokes, mouse clicks and screen updates are transferred wirelessly between the user's device (laptop, PDA, wireless tablet, etc.) and the server, consuming as little as 10 kilobits per second (kbps) of network bandwidth. Security concerns are also addressed as no data is stored on the wireless device and the secure gateway component of MetaFrame provides robust authentication and encryption.

Application performance is further enhanced through superior connection times to the Verizon Wireless Express Network. Verizon Wireless' 1XRTT network delivers average data speeds between 40 and 60 kilobits per second (kbps) with bursts up to 144 kbps - similar to or better than speeds users experience when dialing in from their home PC. As a result, customers can access almost any size application with exceptional performance on wireless devices.

Real-world Customers Speak Out

-New Jersey Family Advocate Program/United Ways of New Jersey

The New Jersey Family Advocate Program (NJ-FAP) is provided through a partnership between the United Ways of New Jersey and the New Jersey Family Management, Inc., a non-profit agency created by Executive Order by the governor of the state. Developed in response to the need for post-September 11 family support, the NJ-FAP identifies case management agencies and individual advocates to provide direct assistance and social services to families that lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks and displaced workers. In order to provide such services, the NJ-FAP needed to create a central database where provider agencies and advocates who were working remotely could store personal data on each individual they visit. With the help of hosted solutions provider Network Alternatives, Citrix and Verizon Wireless, the NJ-FAP was able to create the wirelessly accessible central data repository it needed. Now, the NJ-FAP accesses its business critical applications wirelessly via the Verizon Wireless Express Network from laptops through Network Alternatives' data center, which is supported by Citrix software.

-New Jersey American Water

A subsidiary of one of the largest water and utility companies in the world, New Jersey American Water uses Citrix and Verizon Wireless' joint mobility solution to provide its 45 field workers with access to inventory data, details on service agreements and local area maps. Using Citrix MetaFrame and the Verizon Wireless Express Network, field workers are able to access central office applications wirelessly from their field trucks equipped with Panasonic ToughBooks. In addition, New Jersey American Water crews can show customers the status of their billing information while onsite and also access orders on location, which detail information on where water pipes actually enter customers' homes. The joint solution has allowed New Jersey American Water to improve response time and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

"The potential for this combined wireless solution is tremendous, given the breadth and depth of Citrix's installed base," said Keith Turnbull, vice president and general manager of Citrix's mobility business unit. "This agreement with Verizon Wireless will enable our joint customers to take advantage of a combination of leading-edge solutions that allow them do their work in a wireless environment with a variety of devices, securely accessing any application, anytime, and virtually anywhere."

"With our Express Network, Verizon Wireless provides a unique solution that enhances the ability for mobile professionals to wirelessly access their corporate applications and data," said Jim Straight, vice president, wireless data and Internet services for Verizon Wireless. "Citrix MetaFrame, coupled with our Express Network, offers a reliable solution, enhances productivity, and ensures data security."
