BEDMINSTER, NJ — Based on the feedback from Verizon Wireless' vIQ®, or "vehicle Intelligence Quest," educational curriculum, and as a backdrop to Wireless Safety Week, Verizon Wireless is once again making this valuable teaching tool available to educators as they prepare to teach the next generation of drivers about wireless safety behind the wheel.

One driving instruction professional from the Southwest thought vIQ had, "Good use of animation humor…kids relate to this format." Others have expressed their satisfaction with vIQ and its increasing relevance, particularly as adoption rates for wireless phones among young adults/late teens are becoming more widespread.

vIQ is designed to be part of the driver education curricula and is packaged with an instructive Educator's Guide and video for educators to view and enjoy with their students. According to one Girl Scout Leader in Colorado, vIQ is "Very engaging, visually stimulating," and has "great content."

As the first wireless carrier to launch a program of this kind, Verizon Wireless has leveraged vIQ to help reinforce the company's "Drive Responsibly. Call with Care." campaign. Touching more than one million students since its inception, vIQ has made an impact. In fact, one driving school professional in California said, "I wish I had more like this!"

The program is a comprehensive package that first presents three real-life scenarios incorporating challenges that drivers face daily and encourages new drivers to consider their driving aptitude while educating them about the options for using wireless technologies in the vehicle. The vIQ kit takes the instructor through the program step-by-step. Breakout activities are also included to give instructors and their students an opportunity to think and talk about the issues of vehicle safety and wireless phone usage. The educational package is available complimentary to educators, schools, libraries and drivers education instructors throughout the United States. "Educating the public on responsible driving continues to be a goal for Verizon Wireless and a reflection of our leadership," said Denny Strigl, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. "We hope educators will take advantage of the vIQ program that will help new drivers assess their aptitude to make the smartest decision."
