PIERRE, SD — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, the nation's largest wireless service provider, has expanded its digital network with the conversion of all cell sites from analog to digital technology in South Dakota, making the Verizon Wireless network 100 percent digital in the state.

Communities with new digital service include Pierre, Aberdeen, Huron, Mitchell, Yankton and expanded coverage in the Black Hills area around Rapid City. In addition to the digital conversion, Verizon Wireless added capacity to the network in Rapid City, Sioux Falls and downtown Brookings. All new digital coverage areas now also have Express NetworkSM, Verizon Wireless' high-speed wireless data network that launched March 31 within Rapid City and Sioux Falls

The conversion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless voice and data services. "The increased coverage area for digital service means that our customers will have greater access to caller ID, text messaging and the Internet on their wireless phones," said Rich Garwood, President of the Great Plains Region for Verizon Wireless.
