SPRINGFIELD, IL — Based on the findings of the company's local team of real "Can you hear me now?" Test Man experts, Verizon Wireless recently added call capacity to two of the company's existing cell towers in the communities of Williamsville and Sherman, located just north of the State Capitol, as part of the company's $87 million investment in its network in Illinois during the first half of 2003.

"Our network engineers routinely hit the roads, searching for areas where Verizon Wireless can enhance service for our customers," said Tracy Nolan, president — Illinois/Wisconsin Region for Verizon Wireless. "Adding extra call capacity to these two towers ensures users traveling the busy I-55 corridor north of Springfield, and within the general vicinity of Williamsville and Sherman, will experience the greatest network coverage possible, with optimal call clarity during peak calling times and at all times."

The network enhancements in Sangamon County are part of the company's aggressive yearly multi-billion dollar network investment over the past two years to improve and extend the reach of the Verizon Wireless network, the largest and most reliable in the United States. The 'most reliable claim' is based on network studies performed by the real-life test men and women who inspired the company's national advertising campaign. They conduct more than 300,000 call attempts monthly on Verizon Wireless' and other national wireless carriers' networks while traveling over 100,000 miles of the most frequently traveled roadways nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned quality test vehicles.
