ROCHESTER, NY — Verizon Wireless and the Buffalo Bills have huddled up and called a play to allow the company's wireless phone users to cast their votes for Most Valuable Player of each of the team's games of the 2003 season. Using TXT2VOTE Bills MVP Polling, Verizon Wireless customers can send a text message from their two-way-SMS-capable wireless phone and cast their vote for the Buffalo Bill who contributed the most to his team's effort that day. All other wireless customers can call a toll-free number from their wireless phones to cast their votes. The MVP, as voted by wireless customers, will be announced on the JumboTron prior to the end of the game, and on the Bills' website (www.buffalobills.com).

"Using text messaging to vote for the MVP of the season's Bills games is a fun, interactive way for fans to show their support for the team and to recognize individual players for their outstanding efforts," said John Palmer, president of Verizon Wireless' Upstate New York Region.

Fans can sign up for TXT2VOTE by logging on to www.VZW-Bills.upoc.com and following the simple directions. To vote, Verizon Wireless customers simply send a text message from their wireless phone to the number 2000 with "MVP" in the text box. They'll receive a poll sent to their phone via text message to cast their vote. (Normal text messaging rates apply.) All other wireless customers can call 1-800-506-3983 from their wireless phone to vote via an automated system.

Text messaging is exploding in popularity with wireless users. In the 2nd quarter of 2003 alone, Verizon Wireless customers sent and received more than 300 million text messages per month over the company's national network.

The Bills also use text messaging to send alerts to Verizon Wireless customers' phones to provide team news and updates. Coach's Corner, launched at the beginning of the 2002 season, offers fans a unique and innovative way to stay on top of all team-related news. Fans sign up through www.buffalobills.com to receive the latest team news, scores, game-day traffic reports, game highlights and more.

Coach's Corner alerts are sent directly to Bills fans who have Verizon Wireless digital phones and who sign up for the service on the Bills website. The team uses vtext.com, Verizon Wireless' simple-to-use short text messaging website, to input and deliver the messages. Vtext.com makes it easy to send messages to individuals and groups and lets customers set up interesting and useful information alerts, like Coach's Corner.

The alerts contain up to 160 characters of breaking news about the team and personnel, updates on game day, pre-game scouting reports, post-game comments and statistical milestones, as well as special offers during the season.

Each alert costs two-cents to receive and fans may choose how often they want to get them. For those who want the full benefits of two-way text messaging, packages are available with 100 to 600 messages a month for $2.99 to $6.99.
