SPOKANE, WA — In a continuing effort to provide the latest wireless products and services at convenient, accessible locations, Verizon Wireless has expanded its North Sullivan Street retail location in Spokane, Washington. Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless communications provider in the country, now owns and operates 36 retail locations in the state.

"During the last two years we have invested more than $148 million in our wireless network in Washington, enhancing its reach and its voice and data capabilities," said Kelley Kurtzman, regional president, Verizon Wireless. "This effort, combined with the expansion of the Sullivan store in Spokane, has come at a perfect time because beginning May 24, Spokane residents will be able switch their wireless service providers without changing their telephone number."

Known as local number portability (LNP), this event requires all wireless service providers to cooperate for the good of the customer — from the national wireless carriers to the smaller regional players in the industry. While the large service providers have been actively switching customers in the top 100 markets since November 2003, Verizon Wireless has been working with the smaller regional wireless service providers to help ensure they too are prepared to provide easy, automatic barrier free porting to all customers beginning May 24. The Sullivan store will be fully ready to assist new customers with porting their service to Verizon Wireless on May 24 and will open that day at 8:00 a.m.

The expanded Sullivan Street store offers a premier line of digital wireless phones, data products and accessories, including the latest in camera phones. In addition, the store offers spacious design and the latest in interactive displays.

An array of activities are scheduled from May 14 through 16 to celebrate the store's grand re-opening, including a May 15 remote radio broadcast (see below).
