LANSING, MI — Verizon Wireless has recently activated two new cell sites and upgraded 11 other sites in the greater Lansing area, expanding the company's capacity and digital network coverage area for its customers.

The new cell sites have been activated in the following locations:

  • East Lansing — improved coverage and added capacity on Park Lake Road around Timber Ridge Golf Course as well as along Interstate 69 from Hagadorn to East Lake Lansing Road
  • Lansing — improved coverage and added capacity along Interstate 96 from Waverly to South Washington, and on M-99 between Jolly Road and Holt Road

Verizon Wireless also has enhanced the capacity at 11 cell sites in East Lansing and Lansing. Calling capacity — the number of callers capable of being on the network concurrently — has been increased throughout East Lansing including at Michigan State University's campus, Capitol Airport, downtown Lansing and everywhere inside the Interstate 96 beltway.

"With both the state capitol and Michigan's largest university located in the greater Lansing market, our network experiences tremendous activity, in terms of the number of users and the amount of time they spend on their phones," said Greg Haller, president — Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. "These network enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to provide our customers the quality of service they expect from us."

The improvements are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous upgrades to its network in Michigan and across the country. During the past three years, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $12 billion in its national network, offering customers access to the most extensive and reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States.
