BEDMINSTER, NJ — Some 40 million Americans have tried low-carbohydrate diets, 40 million households have DVD players, 40 million people watch network TV news each night and, as of this past weekend, Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider and operator of the nation's most reliable network, has 40 million customers.

How does Verizon Wireless take care of all these customers?

Constant attention to perfecting its network is one way. Every year since the formation of the company in 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested more than any other U.S. wireless provider — more than $4 billion annually — to maintain and expand its high-quality network nationwide. Verizon Wireless invested more than $1 billion in the first 90 days of 2004 to install new cell sites, grow the network's capacity and engineer other service improvements to further strengthen the nation's largest and most reliable wireless network.

Another way Verizon Wireless cares for its 40 million customers who depend on it for their wireless service is the company's Worry Free GuaranteeSM. It is a commitment that customers will have: the largest, most reliable nationwide wireless network, the option to change to any qualifying calling plan or airtime promotion at anytime, a new phone every two years, a satisfaction guarantee on equipment purchased, a commitment that if a customer ever has a problem it becomes Verizon Wireless' problem the first time they call.

"Verizon Wireless' commitment to providing the highest quality products and services and strengthening the reliability and reach of our wireless network has resulted in a loyal customer base that continues to grow," said Denny Strigl, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. "When customers join Verizon Wireless, we want them to know they will receive the most satisfying wireless experience on the nation's most reliable and expansive wireless network."

Since November 24, 2003, when local number portability (LNP) went into effect in the top 100 markets, significantly more customers have switched to Verizon Wireless than have ported away to other service providers. The company has the lowest churn rate — the percent of customers who leave for another service provider — in the industry, demonstrating that Verizon Wireless customers are more likely to stay with the company than with any of the other national service providers.

Verizon Wireless' leadership in network enhancements and customer service has been recognized by industry organizations and publications. In May 2004, Verizon Wireless was awarded the LAPTOP magazine Editor's Choice Award for Best Overall Carrier.
