SHREVEPORT, LA — In response to growing demand for the company's products and services, Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless provider, today announced the opening of its first full-service store in Shreveport. The new store joins Verizon Wireless kiosks at Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport and Pierre Bossier Mall in Bossier City, marking the company's third retail location in the area. Located at 7230 Youree Drive, the new store is open and assisting customers, and will hold its official grand opening on Friday, August 27 at 11 a.m.

Kicking off the grand opening will be a "wire" cutting ceremony conducted by Shreveport Chamber of Commerce representative Tracy Smith. Members of the Captain Shreve High School band will provide entertainment. As part of the grand opening festivities, customers will receive a 25 percent discount on accessories and free activation with an annual service agreement when they shop at the Shreveport store between August 22 and 28. In addition, Bradie James, Dallas Cowboys linebacker and former LSU Tiger, will be at the new store to meet fans and sign autographs on Tuesday, September 7 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

"Shreveport is a rapidly growing market for Verizon Wireless and we are opening this location as part of our commitment to continue providing the highest level of service to our customers," said Gary Riding, region president for Verizon Wireless. "Our new Shreveport store will provide customers with convenient access to Verizon Wireless's newest products and services on the nation's most advanced wireless network."

As part of its grand opening, Verizon Wireless will donate $1,500 to the YWCA Family Violence Program, an organization dedicated to providing lifesaving services to physically and mentally abused women and children throughout northwest Louisiana. With a goal of providing services to physically and mentally abused women and their children, the YWCA's Family Violence Program is the only program of its kind in northwest Louisiana and currently serves six parishes: Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Webster, Red River and Natchitoches.

"Verizon Wireless' local support addresses a strong need in our community," said Amy Beert, director of development for the YWCA Family Violence Program. "This contribution shows that Verizon Wireless genuinely cares about providing our community with a place they can turn to for protection and support from domestic violence."

The new Verizon Wireless Communications Store is located at 7230 Youree Drive, Suite 110 in Shreveport and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Contact Michael Darby, store manager, at 318-798-0272.
