"QUALCOMM congratulates Verizon Wireless on this latest deployment and looks forward to working together in delivering businesses a superior wireless voice and data experience."

"EV-DO technology has been a valuable point of differentiation between BroadbandAccess and other carriers' competing solutions, and a key factor in our service's success," said Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless. "Our current customers have found BroadbandAccess easy to set up, easy to use and, most importantly, a critical tool for staying connected and productive wherever they are working. We're very excited to extend the availability of EV-DO-powered BroadbandAccess to customers in these new areas."

CDMA2000 1xEV-DO is a data-optimized evolution of CDMA2000 that provides multi-megabit peak rates and average rates of hundreds of kilobits per second at a lower cost per bit than any other 3G technology available today, an increasingly important factor as wireless services become richer in content. QUALCOMM supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO with a broad range of chipsets and system software solutions, such as the MSM5500TM, MSM6500TM, MSM6550TM, MSM6800TM and MSM7500TM. These highly integrated chipsets enable a variety of wireless devices, including wireless handsets, camera phones, PDAs and PC cards for use in laptop and handheld computers, and an array of applications meeting the needs of businesses and consumers.

QUALCOMM's CDMA2000 1xEV-DO solutions harness the true value of high data networks by supporting the advanced feature set of QUALCOMM's LaunchpadTM suite of technologies, encompassing advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location, user interface and removable storage capabilities.
