CARLISLE, PA — Verizon Wireless has brought a temporary cell site-called a COW, or Cell On Wheels-to Carlisle to provide additional network calling capacity for the thousands of people expected to attend this year's car show.

The service enhancement means that more customers can use the Verizon Wireless network concurrently, whether making voice calls or using data applications such as TXT and Picture Messaging.

"The Fall Carlisle car show attracts thousands of visitors and that means additional demand for wireless service, even though it may be for just the week," said Roger Tang—president, Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "Our COW enables us to meet that temporary increase in call volume and to provide our customers with the high quality of service they expect from Verizon Wireless."

The ability to meet customer call volume demand even on a temporary basis is part of the company's commitment to stay ahead of the growing need for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. So far in 2004, Verizon Wireless has spent a quarter of a billion dollars to enhance its network in Pennsylvania. Nationwide, the company invests about $1 billion every 90 days to improve and expand what is already the most reliable wireless network in the United States.
